We are pleased to say that the motion Poole People jointly proposed with Creekmoor councillors to accept the offer from Forelle Estates of £400,000 for part of the Marshes End site in Creekmoor was passed by one vote in an emergency Council meeting on Friday. The site had been controversially selected for a Temporary Stopping Place (TSP) for gypsies and travellers but the rejection of proposals for such development by the Planning Committee has made this unviable.
We had opposed the creation of a TSP on this site because of the contaminated nature of this site and lack of local consultation. We believe a sale to Forelle, if it goes ahead following due diligence, will be good for the Borough as Forelle has the capacity to turn it into an office or industrial development and create jobs. We were satisfied, following review of valuation reports, that the price was fair given that £150,000 - £300,000 of decontamination work will be required on the site.
