Uproar at Poole Council's annual budget meeting

There was uproar in the Conservative ranks at Poole Council’s annual budget meeting this evening as Poole People Leader’s, Mark Howell, pointed out the dangers of a Conservative majority in the new merged council, in the the event merger is approved by the Secretary of State. The Conservative Mayor adjourned the meeting half way through Mark’s speech demanding to vet the rest of the content. Mark refused and after a stand off, the Monitoring Officer gave the go ahead for him to proceed. He warned ot the dangers of creating an unaccountable body and quoted Percy Shelley’s poem Ozymandias to demonstrate the futility of individuals pursuing projects which they believe will enhance their power, status and reputation.
