Mark Howell (Leader of Poole People and Poole Town Councillor)

Mark won his seat in a by-election on 2 December 2010, following the death of Council Leader Brian Leverett, overturning a Conservative majority of 760. He increased his majority to 894 in the elections on 5 May 2011, polling 1,911 votes.

Mark has lived in Poole Town for nine years and is an active member of the local community. He is a board member of Poole Housing Partnership and established The Arts Poole, an arts development organisation promoting arts and music in Poole.

Mark has 15 years experience of working as a lawyer in London, Cairo and Dorset, and also runs a business specialising in communications and employee engagement: Nutmeg Communications.

He has a degree in History and a Masters in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography. He has had a book published on the troubles in the Middle East and was re-elected in May 2015.
